This school-wide event — the largest PTSA fundraiser of the year — promotes fitness and school spirit. All students compete in their gym and health classes. Activities include basketball, dance and running.
This is the PTSA’s second year of sponsoring Fitness Fun Day, an event which funds many Sligo programs, such as Shakespeare Alive, Reflex Math programs for every grade, a field trip fund, the spring dance, equipment for PE and music departments, after school programs, books and programs for the media center, the mini-grant program and more. Fitness Fun Day will take place on Friday, November 18. Each student and staff member will get a free Fitness Fun Day t-shirt to wear the day of the event and students will participate during their PE or Health Class in dance, soccer, basketball, and running competing for day of prizes individually, by grade and by PE class. Our goal this year is to raise $20,000, last year we raised $24,000.
For every $50 a student raises their names get put in the drawing for an iPad mini, sneakers, fitbits, headphones, or a $150 gift card of their choice.
Every student that raises $100 or more will get a ticket to the PARTY of the YEAR held on Wednesday, December 14 after school. The party will include a make your own ice cream sundae bar, an inflatable money machine, a dance party, ping pong and more.
If we raise $20,000 or more as a school, the PTSA will sponsor a spring dance on Friday, March 24.
If you have questions about Fitness Fun Day or this fundraising efforts, parent volunteers will be available greeting students on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the front hall each morning from 7:45-8:15am . Students can also drop off money and paper pledge cards to these parent volunteers.
